Haryana completes construction of 4,500 accommodation rooms for Commonwealth Games 2010

HTM to organise Shopping Festival in Gurgaon from February 24-March 14, 2010

The Government of Haryana has completed construction of 4,500 rooms out of 7,000 rooms to provide accommodation to visitors during the Commonwealth Games 2010. The remaining 2,500 rooms are currently under construction.  This was informed by Kumari Selja, Union Minister for Tourism during the inauguration ceremony of Haryana Travel Mart (HTM) which was held recently at Ambience Mall in Gurgaon. HTM witnessed a large number of tour operators, airlines, cruise liners, state tourism boards and National Tourist Offices in India.

During the ceremony Selja said that Haryana has earned a name for itself in developing various tourism concepts such as Highway, Eco, Golf and Heritage Tourism. The Highway Tourism has been adopted by various tourism stakeholders to develop tourism in their states. Surajkund Mela is another initiative launched by Haryana Tourism which attracts large number of foreign and national tourists. Referring to HTM, Selja added that this Mart will provide greater opportunity for cruises, hotels, tour operators, etc. who want to promote their tourism products.
