Haryana Tourism Corporation (HTC) is all set to come up with a banquet hall-cum-convention centre at Red Bishop in Panchkula, Chandigarh which will boast of a 1,000- plus seating capacity. Once the project is operational, the state tourism department plans to launch more such ventures in Sonepat, Panipat, Rohtak and Hisar. Besides catering to national and international-level conferences, the move is also targeted at encashing upon the wedding season when locals look for government-run places to organise functions. The state government reportedly sanctioned Rs five crore after Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) transferred two acres adjoining Red Bishop Panchkula to HTC.
According to a report in Times of India, Kesni Anand Arora, Secretary Tourism, Haryana said, “This was a long-pending demand of residents, especially those living in Panchkula. Though some amount has been sanctioned, we are expecting more funds from the Government of India. Meanwhile, the process to finalise design and layout of the banquet hall has begun.” The hall, which is expected to come up within one year, |
