India has become the centre of attention for most international tourism bodies after the global economic slowdown. The recent entrant to eye the Indian outbound market is Hawaii Tourism Association, an association of travel suppliers based in Hawaii. The Association, which was formed last year in December, received immense response on its website from the Indian travel trade inquiring and desiring to promote the destination in India. After receiving positive feedback, India is in the spotlight for the Association. It is now contemplating plans to spread destination awareness in India along with offering information and product knowledge to the travel trade.
Talking exclusively to TravelBiz Monitor, Juergen Thomas Steinmetz, President, Hawaii Tourism Association divulged various plans for the Indian market in the coming years. Highlighting the top most priority for Indian market, Steinmetz said, “We are in constant talks with Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) for introducing visa waiver programmes for countries like India and South Africa, especially during tough times like global slowdown to give a boost to tourism in Hawaii. |
