Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is all set to unleash a marketing campaign aimed at promoting Hong Kong as a favoured Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events (MICE) destination for the Indian outbound market. In order to drive MICE traffic and provide advisory services to the travel trade, HKTB intends to establish an exclusive MICE representative office in New Delhi, disclosed Anthony Lau, Executive Director, HKTB.
As a first step, HKTB had organised, ‘Hong Kong – The Preferred MICE Destination’ event in Delhi last week. Speaking at the event, Au King Chi, Commissioner for Tourism, Hong Kong SAR said that 27 additional flights between India and Hong Kong is a huge opportunity for the country to tap the Indian MICE segment. “Strong ties between the two countries dating back to the 19th century and the locational advantage of Hong Kong as a sourcing hub for Asia are big advantages for the visitors. Hong Kong is all the more exciting as there are minimum of taxes - no VAT, no sales tax, no hotel accommodation tax, no taxes on wine trading etc.,” she added. |
