HPTDC in process of developing hotel-cum-convention centre in Shimla and Chail, Himachal Pradesh

With an aim to attract MICE clientele to its destination, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) is in the process of developing a hotel-cum-convention centre in Shimla and Chail in Himachal Pradesh. The projects are approved by HPTDC’s Board of Directors and it is in the process of formulating a detailed project report for the same. The project includes a 50-room hotel in Shimla and a 100-room hotel in Chail.

HPTDC has earmarked an estimated project cost of Rs 50 crore for each development. The properties will be state-controlled, under the management of HPTDC. HPTDC plans to acquire funds from the Ministry of Tourism, Tourism Corporation and private bank funding. C S Ranta, Deputy General Manager - Operations and Marketing, HPTDC said, “The Central Government provides an aid of Rs five crore for development of every convention centre. We hope to receive the same aid. Since Shimla and Chail are popular destinations close to Delhi, we expect to drive a significant amount of MICE clientele to these locations.”
