IATA Agents Association of India (IAAI) has decided to intensify their agitation against the zero commission regime, which came into effect from the first of this month. A meeting was called last week by the Association in Delhi to formulate future strategies and to garner support from Members of Parliament (MPs). At the meeting, IAAI also passed few resolutions directed at bringing transparency into airline operations and pricing mechanisms. Through one such resolution, IAAI has urged reframing of Directorate General of Civil aviation (DGCA) rules 134 and 135 under Part XIII to make it mandatory for airlines to publish their rates so that different charges, taxes, surcharges, discounts, incentives could be monitored. The Association also demanded constitution of a regulatory board for airline operations in the country.
Speaking with TravelBiz Monitor, Biji Eapen, President, IAAI, said that the Association will go forward with its agitation until five per cent commission was reinstated by the airlines. “As of now, 61 MPs have committed their support to our agitation. |
