IATO puts forward recommendations for Delhi government’s mandatory registration policy

The Indian Association of Tour Operator (IATO) has put forward recommendations for Delhi government’s mandatory registration policy guidelines for travel and tour operators in the state, which has been extended from March 31, 2010 to April 30, 2010. Gour Kanjilal, Executive Director, IATO stated that IATO has recommended that tour operators who already have received the approval from Ministry of Tourism (MoT) should not undergo inspection for the second time.

The Association further stated that tour operators registering with the Delhi government should have five years validity, instead of renewing the registration every year, as per the state government’s present guideline. Besides, the mandatory registration guidelines should be simplified and unwanted criteria should be removed, for e.g.:  few of the guideline criteria has been formulated as per the Motor Vehicle Act, which should be removed as it is not required for tour operators.
