India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), sponsored by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is in the process of organising series of initiatives to promote MICE in India. This year, ICPB plans to organise road shows and seminars in three Indian cities, as well as an educational programme in New Delhi to educate its members on MICE business in the country. However, the date and venue for the same have not yet been decided upon. This information was provided by Chander Mansharamani, Honorary Secretary and Treasurer, ICPB.
Last year, ICPB had organised road shows and seminars in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad which witnessed a total attendance of 100 MICE organisers. The Bureau is also planning to organise its annual convention in Bengaluru in August this year. However, the date and venue for the same have not yet been decided.
When asked about the MICE business in India, Mansharamani opined that the MICE sector in India is growing rapidly. Infrastructures such as airports and convention centres have come up at par with international standards. Thus India is now in a better position to tap the potential of this growing segment. |
