| | As giant cruise companies have their established presence in India, the concept of Cruise Tourism is not new in the country. However, it’s only since the last two to three years that the sector has been gaining strength through multiple efforts undertaken by private and public sector. Last year, in a study conducted by FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and Evaluserve, it was predicted that Cruise Tourism in India could grow three fold by 2010, if efforts are taken in right direction. Taking it forward, the Indian government had announced a new Cruise Tourism Policy to push forward the growth of this sector. Furthermore, with the launch of Louis Cruises, the first international cruise company to call international ports to India; the travel industry is confident about the growth of Cruise Tourism in the country for the coming years.
