India Tourism to undertake market survey in overseas markets

India Tourism will undertake elaborate market surveys in key overseas markets in the coming years to understand travellers better. This was disclosed by Sujit Banerjee, Secretary – Tourism, Government of India, on the occasion of the launch of Visit India Year 2009 in the capital last week. Elaborating on the details of and purpose behind conducting the market surveys, Banerjee said the results of such a survey will help the government and the industry in positioning their products according to demands and tastes of visitors. Sri Lankan Tourism had undertaken such a survey in the past in the overseas markets, he informed. Although details of the survey are yet to be worked out, the Secretary informed that the survey will be conducted with the help of India Tourism offices abroad.
