International tourist season kicks off with first flight from Moscow to Goa

According to a Press Trust of India (PTI) report, the first flight bringing in the foreign tourist chunk from Moscow landed yesterday at Dabolim airport marking the beginning of the international tourist season. Goa receives around four lakh foreigners every year, of which majority, almost 42 per cent are Britons. Russians rank second contributing for nine per cent followed by German who are almost seven per cent. Australian travellers rank in the mid order of the tourism department statistics. The chunk of Australians arriving here is less compared to that of Finland, France, Switzerland, Sweden and the Americas.

The arrival of first flight will be followed by many such landings. Briton visitors are expected to arrive here at the end of this month. The state, in a bid to pre-empt any untoward incident, has tightened security around the coastal belt. The police have firmly stated that they would not allow violation of laws by the shack owners. The shack owners are also warned that they would be responsible for any drug paddling or consumption in his shack.
