| | Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC), provider of online passenger reservation system, has launched a beta version of its revamped website. The beta version of the new website is available at https://www.irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/beta.dll/irctc/services/home.do#.
According to a report in www.ciol.com, Subir Agrawal, Director - Consulting, BroadVision - Asia Pacific Region, which is looking after the website said that the new interface is intended to increase the number of visitors who book rail tickets using the site. He said, “We observed that out of the total number of visitors to IRCTC only 45 per cent book tickets. Our aim is to increase this number of visitors by making the process more interactive and easy.”
One of the new steps taken is instant booking; the travellers need not login/register for the booking. Anyone can book tickets. The team is using Web 2.0 platforms and Ajax for enabling more features in the site. The new site will have drop-down options and provide more information on the same web page. | | Read complete story >> (You need to login first to read complete story). New User? Register for FREE! |
