IRCTC to aggressively promote Mahaparinirvan Express train in South East Asian countries

To appoint new GSAs, organise road shows to target foreign tourists

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which is a Government of India enterprise, has decided to promote its Buddhist Circuit special train, Mahaparinirvan Express in a bigger way internationally this year. IRCTC is now gearing up for the third season of the Buddhist Circuit special which starts from October 2009 to March 2010. In order to promote the train, IRCTC has planned to organise several road shows and B2B meetings in South East Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Korea, China, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. It also plans to appoint General Sales Agents (GSA) in Sri Lanka, China and Vietnam. Currently, it has GSAs in Thailand, Korea, Taiwan and is planning to appoint more GSAs in these countries. All these promotional activities will begin from early next month and continue till October 2009.
