With a view to further diversify the business portfolio, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is in the process of integrating the rail inventory of luxury trains - The Golden Chariot of Karnataka and Deccan Odyssey of Maharashtra onto the IRCTC website - railtourismindia.com. The integration of Deccan Odyssey is currently on the verge of completion and the inventory will go live within a month’s time, whereas the inventory of Golden Chariot will take longer to go live.
Speaking with TravelBiz Monitor, Sunil Kumar, Deputy General Manager – Portals, IRCTC said, “We are currently integrating the systems and it is likely to go live shortly. The luxury trains will be marketed through our multi-dimensional channel i.e. our website, which has close to seven million registered users, our wide network of travel agents and international sales channel. We will work on a commission based model. However, I am not in a position to disclose the percentage of commissions.”
