Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department to organise Travel Mart in September 2011

The Department of Tourism, Government of Jammu & Kashmir has decided to organise, Jammu & Kashmir Travel Mart in the first week of September this year. The three day event will be an annual affair and will be organised on the lines of other leading travel marts in the country. The first edition of the Mart will most likely be held in Srinagar. This information was provided by Farooq Shah, Director Tourism, Kashmir.

According to Shah, the aim of organising the Mart is to create a platform to showcase all tourism offerings and products of the state and an opportunity for suppliers to interact with buyers, both from India and abroad. “We plan to invite about 200 buyers comprising of leading agencies and tour operators from India and abroad for the Mart. We expect participation of suppliers from the state such as hotels, resorts, houseboats, heritage bungalows, home stays, adventure tour operators,
