Jammu and Kashmir government following systemic approach to promote tourism in state: S. S. Kapur, Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir government is following a systematic approach for the promotion of tourism in the state, yielding results and trade enquiries for a number of areas. This was informed recently by S. S. Kapur, Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir. He further informed that due to elections in the country, tourist arrivals have been slightly lower than the previous year. According to a report in Etalaat News Service, on the improvement of the Dal Lake, Kapur said that the project will receive attention from the state government and will welcome positive and constructive suggestions from people including the media. He further added that the Dal Lake and houseboats are interconnected and hoped that the houseboats will soon put in place the necessary sanitation mechanisms. In this regard he said that three to four sanitation mechanisms have already been tested.

He also informed that in the long term, Kashmir rail, four-lanning of the National Highway and Mughal Road are projects which can provide critical infrastructure base for the tourism industry in future.
