| | According to a PTI report, while interacting with representatives of Houseboat Association in Srinagar yesterday, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Tourism Minister, Jammu and Kashmir said that the state government has initiated many measures for promoting tourism industry and is looking forward for cooperation from all stake holders associated with tourism trade for bringing the industry on par with the international standards.
Referring to the demands of the Association, Jora said a dock yard will be constructed to repair house boats at an estimated cost of Rs 1.20 crore at Srinagar. He informed that Rs 25 lakh has been already released by the state government for the purpose and kept under the disposal of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA). The matter for issuing timber for repairs of house boats on concessional rates on the pattern of pencil industry will be taken up with the Chief Minister.
