According to a PTI report, Jammu and Kashmir is set to promote Ecotourism in the state in a bid to allow tourists to experience its countryside while also helping to uplift the locals in rural and remote areas. Taking a cue from Karnataka in terms of promoting Ecotourism, Jammu and Kashmir will promote Adventure Tourism, trekking, water rafting, bird watching, fishing, night camps, forest camps, wetland visits and wildlife education. The objective of developing Ecotourism facility in Jammu and Kashmir is also to uplift people living in rural and remote areas besides promoting tourism.
“We have decided to launch Ecotourism in Jammu and Kashmir on the lines of Karnataka and we will offer wildlife, forest and Adventure Tourism to domestic and foreign tourists in the state as a unique and natural experience,” said A K Srivastava, Chief Wildlife Warden, Jammu and Kashmir. In this direction, a pilot project has been prepared by Karnataka government owned company Jungle Lodges and Resorts Ltd. (JLRL), which is successfully running Ecotourism sector in the southern state for the past 29 years. |
