Jet Airways to stop its direct Calicut-Doha flight from March 28, 2009

According to a PTI report, Jet Airways announced recently that it will stop its direct Calicut-Doha flight from March 28, 2009 due to poor demand. A Jet Airways official informed that the load-factor on the Calicut-Doha direct service has not been encouraging, forcing the airline to withdraw the flight. “Passengers who did not want to cancel their tickets have been given the option to travel on our Doha-Mumbai-Calicut flight, which will continue,” added the official.

The airline had launched Calicut-Doha direct service along with a Calicut-Muscat flight early last year. Calicut-Doha is the third major international route, which Jet Airways has withdrawn in the face of low demand and mounting losses. Earlier, the airline had discontinued its Mumbai-Shanghai-San Francisco service on January 13, 2009 and Bangalore-Brussels flight in November last year.
