J&K, CM agrees to set up an Adventure Tourism Management Institute in the state at ATOAI convention

State to play host for ATOAI convention next year

At the valedictory session of the eight annual convention of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), which was held on January 15-17, 2010 in Bhopal, Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister, Jammu and Kashmir agreed to set up an Adventure Tourism Management Institute in the state (Jammu and Kashmir). Abdullah informed that the Institute will be built on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, and for the same, Jammu and Kashmir government is ready to offer land and investment. He urged ATOAI members to provide expertise for the development of the Institute. Abdullah also witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister of Tourism, Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Tejbir Singh Anand, President, ATOAI officially announcing Jammu and Kashmir as the host for next ATOAI convention.

The convention `Beyond the Himalaya,’ held at Amer Greens on the outskirts of Bhopal was attended by nearly 200 members from across the country and inaugurated by Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh by going up a few hundred feet in a hot air balloon in company of Jora.
