The Directorate of Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir has taken the initiative of developing places of tourist interest like Sanasar, Bhederwah and Shahadra Sharif part of Rajouri in the state as major tourist destinations. The Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India has provided Jammu and Kashmir with financial assistance to develop these places while about 19 tourism development authorities will focus on these particular areas in the state.
Confirming the move, Amit Sharma, Deputy Director, Directorate of Tourism, Government of Jammu and Kashmir stated, “We have decided to develop few places visited by a large number of tourists, for which the MoT will provide sufficient funds. For instance, Sanasar which is 19 kms from Patnitop will be developed to attract more tourists. This place has always experienced heavy snowfall, so we use snow cutters to clean the snow and increase road connectivity. State Tourism and Culture Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora visited Sanasar and has shown personal interest in promoting it as a tourist destination,” said Sharma. |
