JNTO to launch an exclusive B2B portal for Indian travel trade by July this year

Postpones plans of opening representative office in India

Japan National Tourist Organisation (JNTO) is undertaking multiple steps to enhance tourist inflow in the country. For the same, the organisation has launched Visit Japan campaign in major source markets like US, Korea, South Africa, Hong Kong, Taiwan etc. This year it is mainly focusing on two emerging tourist markets – China and India and has planned multiple strategies for each market. In the Indian market, JNTO will launch an exclusive B2B portal for the travel trade which will have all the required information on the destination including tour packages, hotels, car rentals, Visa information, etc. The portal will be operational by July this year and is expected to register good response from the travel trade.

Talking to TravelBiz Monitor on the sidelines of a seminar organised recently by JNTO for the travel trade in Mumbai; Atsushi OUE, Manager – Asia Group – Marketing and Promotion Department, JNTO said, “Over 67,000 Indians visited Japan in 2009 of which 70 per cent was business traffic. India along with China is the only market which showed growth in 2009.
