According to a PTI report, the Karnataka government is mulling on rolling out Caravan Tourism that will enable tourists to visit forest and other remote areas where hotel accommodation is a major hurdle. Speaking on the sidelines of a Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) meeting on hotel infrastructure investment held yesterday in Bengaluru, K Viswanatha Reddy, Tourism Director, Government of Karnataka said that the caravan will provide basic amenities like beds, toilet, microwave, TV and refrigerator.
Reddy mentioned that the state government will welcome private partners to operate caravans. “To start with, we are looking at operating ten caravans. The state government on its part will provide the parking zone after ensuring due clearance from various bodies including the forest department. The investment for each caravan will depend on the size, it could start from Rs six-seven lakh and go up to Rs one crore. Up till now no route has been identified and the state government will wait for a feedback from private partners to identify the parking zones,” added Reddy. |
