Kerala govt decides to form new company to promote tourism infrastructure development

According to a PTI report, the Kerala government has decided to form a new company that will focus on promoting private investments and take up Public Private Partnership (PPP) model projects. In a bid to promote tourism infrastructure development, V S Achuthanandan, Chief Minister, Kerala said that Tourism Resorts Kerala Ltd (TRKL), a subsidiary of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, will be de-linked from the parent company and re-constituted as Kerala Tourism Infrastructure and Investment Corporation Ltd.

T K Mansoor, Managing Director, TRKL said though the company in its present form was taking up tourism promotion projects, but there was no focused attempt on its part on infrastructure development. Now the new company will focus on infrastructure development. TRKL had already initiated ten tourism projects in the tourist spot of Velli in Thiruvananthapuram with a total outlay of Rs 100 crore.
