With an objective to attract more travellers from the domestic market, Kerala Tourism will organise road shows in six Tier II cities of India starting from August 6, 2010 to September 30, 2010. Through the road shows the state tourism board is looking at targeting the leisure segment by promoting backwaters, romantic holidays, hill stations, Ayurveda and wildlife in the state.
The six cities where the road shows will be held are: Bhubaneswar (August 4), Vijayawada (August 6), Coimbatore (September 3), Bhopal (September 6), Lucknow (September 8) and Jaipur (September 30).
Speaking with TravelBiz Monitor, M Sivasankar, Director, Kerala Tourism said, “We are targeting these markets for the first time and it is a part of our on going initiative to target more travellers from the domestic segment. Domestic market has shown a promising growth and it is important to touch base with tour operators from these cities. Also there are some tour operators who have never tapped Kerala as a destination and there lies an opportunity for us to tap through these road shows. Approximately 25 suppliers from Kerala will be interacting with buyers from these cities.” |
