Kingfisher Airlines plans to launch Kolkata-Dhaka flight from May 15, 2009

According to a PTI report, Kingfisher Airlines is planning to launch its Kolkata-Dhaka flight from May 15, 2009. The airline spokesperson informed that the airline has deployed an ATR 72-500 (60-seater) for the Kolkata-Dhaka flight which will run daily. The flight IT-73 will leave Kolkata at 2:45pm (local time) and arrive in Dhaka at 4:15 pm (local time). The return flight will take-off from Dhaka at 5:00 pm and arrive in Kolkata Airport at 5:30 pm. Dhaka will be the third overseas destination after London and Colombo for the airline, which already has the permission from the Indian government to fly across 13 international routes.

The airline had launched its international operations in September last year with a Bangalore-London flight followed by the Mumbai-London, Bangalore-Colombo and Chennai-Colombo flights in January this year. Though the airline planned to launch flights to Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai, these have been deferred in the wake of low passenger demand, downturn in the global economy and staggering losses.
