Kochi International Marina, the first-of-its-kind, built at a cost of Rs 8.40 crore with half of the assistance from the Centre at Bolgatty Island, Kochi, was recently inaugurated by A K Antony, Union Minister for Defense, in the presence of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism, Government of Kerala, and other dignitaries. The Marina will be managed by international marina operator Ocean Blue in a 50: 50 profit sharing partnership with Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC).
The Marina has berthing facilities for 50 yachts at a time. There is a Marina House, which will serve as a station for vessels to refuel and to replenish their stores. The Marina House will also have accommodation facility. According to Cherian Philip, Chairman, KTDC, the Marina House has 32 rooms, a recreation centre, convention centre and playground for children. One of the main attractions of the Marina is the golf course.
