KSIDC keen on investing, supporting tourism projects: Elamaram Kareem, Industry Minister, Kerala

The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) according to a PTI report is keen on investing and supporting tourism projects in the state together with the Tourism Department. This was disclosed by Elamaram Kareem, Industry Minister, Kerala while speaking to the media yesterday at the Kerala Travel Mart in Kochi. "For the development of tourism, we are also making efforts to develop infrastructure like roads and other connectivity in Kerala," said Kareem.

Kareem said that the government had set up a new company, Kerala Infrastructure Limited, which planned to develop infrastructure in a big way. The company was undertaking some major projects in Kerala like development of medical city to promote Medical Tourism. According to Kareem, it has identified some more projects and the government will be supporting it and will also seek support from NRIs.

The minister said that the government proposed to build a new airport in North Kerala. “Land acquisition will be completed by January next year, after which the project will go for bidding to find a successful promoter,” said Kareem.
