The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation’s (KTDC) tourist complex ‘Pepper Grove’ in Manichira, Wayanad was inaugurated recently by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Home and Tourism Minister, Kerala. The tourist complex, which will be managed by KTDC, has 20 rooms comprising four premium and 16 deluxe rooms with modern facilities. It has an open courtyard where cultural programmes can be performed and a conference centre which can accommodate 50 people. This information was divulged by K G Mohanlal, Managing Director, KTDC. The premium room is priced at Rs 2500 plus taxes and deluxe room is priced at Rs 2000 plus taxes. KTDC will soon launch a similar tourist complex with 14 cottages at Ponmudi in Thiruvananthapuram in the state.
While inaugurating the complex, Balakrishnan said that the state tourism department will consider Wayanad as a priority region for tourism development with an investment of Rs 50 crore under Central Finance Assistance. He added that Business Tourism is the state’s future, as about 12 lakh people work in the industry and contribute total revenue of Rs 1,30,000 crore to the state. |
