Kumari Selja, Union Minister of Tourism unveils code of conduct for Safe and Honourable Tourism

According to a PIB release, Kumari Selja, Union Minister for Tourism yesterday unveiled the code of conduct for Safe and Honourable Tourism in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Selja said that even though such code of ethics for tourism has earlier been developed by world bodies like UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation), the code of conduct unveiled is based on meeting the country’s futuristic needs and challenges. She said she would call it ‘our own innovation inspired by the existing code of ethics of UNWTO’.

This code of Conduct was developed by Ministry of Tourism (MoT) in association with PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) India Chapter, Save the Children – India, United Nations Office on Drugs & Crimes (UNODC) and Equitable Tourism Option (EQUATIONS).

A large number of stakeholders in the tourism sector were present on the occasion. They include among others representative of UNODC, EQUATIONS, Save the Children, PATA, members from travel and hospitality industry.
