With a change in the hotel booking patterns of the tech-savvy clientele, Le Royal Meridien Mumbai has seen a significant increase in its online sales. The hotel observed the highest bookings through Internet medium among all Starwood branded hotels located in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. With regards to the same, Le Royal Meridien Mumbai has received the Regional Wired Sales Winner 2008-09 Award from the hotel chain.
In 2008, the company observed a 125 per cent penetration on the Global Distribution System (GDS) while within the first six months of 2009 itself, has seen penetration of about 114 per cent. The hotel currently, receives bookings of about 12-14 rooms per day through its website. In 2008, the figures were in single digits. Speaking exclusively to TravelBiz Monitor on the property’s strategy to increase online sales, Anuraag Bhatnagar, General Manager, Le Royal Meridien Mumbai, stated, “In Europe and the US, online bookings contribute to about 70 per cent of the rooms sales. In India, this share is only about 20 per cent. |
