Harrods, one of the famous departmental store in London is eyeing high spending Indian travellers. By participating in the Britain & Ireland Indian Mission 2009 (BIIM) workshop which kick started yesterday in Mumbai, it is looking at understanding the Indian travel market, as well as making the travel trade aware of its product offerings. Harrods is going to introduce ‘Shopping Experience’ packages by this year-end, wherein the store will offer special deals and shopping vouchers to the travel trade, who will sell it to clients for their London tour. Furthermore, Harrods will also launch ‘Behind the store’ tours by early next year. In this tour, tourists will be offered an insight about the history (built in 1849) and specialty of the store through day and night packages.
Talking about the special tour packages, Bhauna Patel, Advertising and Promotional Controller, Harrods Ltd. said, “Through various research and past records (of Harrods), we came to the conclusion that Indian travellers have high disposable income and are high spenders. Despite the recession, Indian travellers are still spending on shopping. |
