Luxury tents for CWG 2010 visitors to be set up at Surajkund and Dundahera

According to a PTI report, visitors to the CommonWealth Games (CWG), which will be held in the capital from October 3-14, 2010, will be able to stay in luxurious tents modeled on those put up during the Pushkar Fair in two areas in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The two places in the NCR -- Surajkund in Faridabad and Dundahera near the National Highway-Eight -- have received approval from the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) for setting up luxury tents for visitors during the Games. For the same purpose, MoT has also sanctioned about Rs eight crore as part of the tented accommodation project to Haryana government for developing basic facilities in Dundahera and Surajkund.

A senior official from MoT mentioned that earlier, MoT was planning to have tented accommodation at the Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment and the Territorial Army Area in Chattarpur. However, permission was not granted by the Ministry of Defense, therefore other options were explored.
