Marina Bay Sands Singapore organises grand opening celebration for its formal launch

Marina Bay Sands, the integrated resort situated at 10, Bayfront Avenue along the Marina Bay waterfront, heart of Singapore Central Business district, had a formal launch yesterday with a grand opening celebration that included entertainment acts by big international and regional stars and first-ever World Championship Climb to the Sands SkyPark. Seven international teams comprising of three participants executed an extreme relay climb on each of the three hotel towers with each team scaling the 55-storey towers in succession and followed it up with a sprint across the 340-meter long Sands Skypark Skydivers descending over Marina Bay Sands were also part of extravagant opening celebration.

The formal launch marked the opening of the second phase of the USD 5.5 billion property. The second phase of the property consists of 2,560 hotel rooms and suites spread over three 55-storeyed towers with five floors dedicated to exhibitions and convention space having 250 halls of varied sizes which has the capacity to accommodate up to 10,000 people at a time for hosting expositions and meetings. The first phase was opened on April 27, 2010.
