MART introduces 18 guideline points for approval of Agri Tourism centres in Maharashtra

Aims to have about 150 centres by 2011

After an encouraging support offered by Maharashtra's Tourism and Agriculture department for the growth of Agri Tourism concept in the state, Maharashtra State Agri and Rural Tourism (MART) Co-op Federation Ltd. has announced a set of 18 guidelines for registration and approval of Agri Tourism centres in Maharashtra. According to the new guidelines put forth by MART as Maharashtra Krishi Paryatan Yojana 2009, farmers and organisations who are keen to participate in the Agri Tourism industry have to receive an approval from the Federation. The Federation will select and benchmark the farm as per fixed norms and will monitor the delivery of services by Agri Tourism service providers.

Some of the important guidelines are: The registration of Agri Tourism centre will be done only in those cases where agriculture farms are fully developed and worth visiting from a tourism point of view. It is mandatory to have a minimum of three rooms for accommodation of guests for registration of the centre. The registration will be done initially for three years from the date of signing of agreement
