Master Plan for Munnar in three months: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

A Master Plan for comprehensive development of Munnar, Kerala will be ready in the next three months. This was informed by Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Tourism Minister of Kerala at Munnar yesterday. The minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the new block at Tea County resort hotel of Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC).

The Minister said that notwithstanding the global slowdown, Munnar has strong tourist footfalls. “Munnar witnessed a 10 per cent growth in terms of foreign tourists and six per cent growth in domestic tourist visits last year,” said Balakrishnan. The state tourism had appointed a Delhi-based agency as part of Responsible Tourism initiative to draw a Master Plan for planned development of five tourist destinations in the state, including Munnar. The new block at Tea County will add 24 rooms more. The construction will be completed in the next two years.
