MEDC launches initiative to impart soft skill training to taxi and auto rickshaw drivers

As part of the initiatives launched under Visit Golden Maharashtra programme, Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) in association with MultiNet Worldwide today launched soft skills training programme for taxi drivers and auto rickshaw drivers of Maharashtra. The initiative was inaugurated today by Dr Vijay Kumar Gavit, Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra who emphasised on the fact that taxi and auto rickshaw drivers give the first impression of a city to tourists. “Hence, this initiative will help to enhance the service quality and approach of the state’s taxi and auto rickshaw drivers, giving a better experience to the travellers,” added Gavit.

The training will be conducted by For She Travels and Logistics. MEDC plans to train about two lakh taxi drivers in batches of 100-150 drivers. The initiative is expected to span to about eight months. The training will impart awareness about safe driving, fuel conservation, grooming and etiquettes, emergency response,
