Mobile travel services increasingly being used by travellers: Sabre Travel Network report

According to report in asiatraveltips.com, Sabre Travel Network, one of the world’s leading providers of high-performance solutions for the travel industry, recently conducted a global mobile survey of travellers. The survey revealed that travellers both young and old are increasingly using mobile devices for flight notification, check in and seat selection, as well as are willing to accept advertising with free travel applications. The survey conducted among 800 corporate and leisure travellers from Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America covered topics ranging from preferred features to fees travellers might pay for travel applications.

The majority of travellers surveyed had a smart phone (69 per cent), with North American travellers most likely to own one (78 per cent) and Asia Pacific (APAC) travellers least likely (46 per cent). Daily usage is highest for email at 63 per cent with the internet not far behind at 49 per cent. The study also found that nearly half of all travellers (47 per cent) are 40 years old or older, demonstrating that the exploding use of mobile services is not strictly the domain of younger travellers.
