An exclusive meeting was held today in the capital between the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and travel trade associations (TAAI, TAFI and IAAI) to discuss the implementation of the Kerala High Court verdict regarding commission to travel agents from all 16 zero commission airlines. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of P N Sukul, Joint Secretary, MoCA. During the meeting, the travel trade associations demanded to restore the commission structure, while the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) expressed the view that as per rule, commissions should be paid by airline operators and not the public. Although the meeting could not bring out a concrete solution on the commission issue, after hearing the viewpoints MoCA has decided to refer the issue to the Ministry of Law.
