MoHA lifts restriction on certain areas under Protected Area Permit (PAP) regime along Rajasthan border

According to a PIB release, with an aim to boost tourism, as per information received in Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Home Affairs in consultation with all concerned agencies has decided to exclude certain areas in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts along the Rajasthan border which fell under the Protected Area Permit (PAP) regime. The areas in the districts of Barmer and Jaisalmer are considered to have huge tourism potential.

In Barmer district, areas around Kiradu, 35 kms from Barmer town have been opened up for tourists. Areas around it include: Barmer, Marudi, Langera, Jasai, Danta, Anta and Hathma which have been excluded from the PAP regime. Similarly, Juna Patrasar, known for its Jain temples 33 kms, has also been opened up along with Barmer, Marudi Langera, Meethi, Beri and Juna Patrasar route.

In Jaisalmer district, Laxmanon ki Basti and Turkon ki Basti, known for its sand dunes, has been opened up for tourists. The destination is 53 km from Jaisalmer and can be accessed through the Jaisalmer-Amarsagar-Moolsagar- Damodara Sam-Loonon ki Basti-Laxmanon ki Basti-Turkon ki Basti route.
