| | In a bid to promote Adventure Tourism in India, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) and the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) will tap new markets like New Zealand and Australia to attract potential adventure tourists into the country. For the same, MoT and ATOAI are organising five-city Adventure Tourism road shows in Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand and Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in Australia from September 5-17, 2009. These road shows will help the adventure tour operator delegation to interact with stakeholders from the New Zealand and Australia markets and enhance business exchange between the countries.
“An 11-member delegation of ATOAI will attend these road shows and this will give them a platform to showcase different products in segments like Adventure Tourism, Ecotourism and also special interest tours,” explained Tejbir Anand Singh, President, ATOAI. The Adventure Tourism industry has, in the recent years, witnessed a trend wherein soft adventure activities have become lifestyle activities and demand for them is continuously increasing.
