MoT gives positive nod to tourism proposals sent by Maharashtra Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) recently gave a positive nod to Maharashtra Tourism for developing tourism related project proposals, sent by Maharashtra government. MoT has received seven tourism project proposals from Maharashtra government for this year and next. The project proposals received include: Pune Festival 2008; Mega Shopping Festival at Aurangabad; Destination Development of Toranmal, Nandurbar (district); Major Circuit Development for the Vidarbha Region; Major Circuit Development for the Marathwada Region; Major Circuit Development for Heritage Corridor for Aurangabad and Major Circuit Development for Elephanta.

“The projects which are complete as per MoT guidelines have been processed and funds have been allotted to the respective heads of the state’s tourism department,” stated Ambika Soni, Union Minister, Tourism and Culture. MoT has sanctioned Rs 1279.24 lakh for the development of tourism in Maharashtra for the previous year and this year. The development and promotion of tourist circuits in the region are looked after by Ministry of State Tourism, Govt. of Maharashtra.
