MoT grants Central Financial Assistance to promote MICE and Heli Tourism

In order to tap the potential of the tourism sector through new and innovative measures, Kumari Selja, Union Minister of Tourism has launched several initiatives, which include promotion of MICE and Heli Tourism. According to a PIB release, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) will henceforth grant Central Financial Assistance for construction of one convention centre in each state/Union Territory under the scheme of Product/Infrastructure Development of Destinations and Circuits for promotion of MICE. The assistance will be provided up to Rs five crore for each project on the basis of proposals received from the state governments/Union Territory Administrations.

The Ministry is also focusing on creating infrastructure that will add to experiential tourism like adventure sports, etc. Some of the tourist destinations in hilly and remote areas also suffer from lack of connectivity. Accordingly, the MoT has decided to grant Central Financial Assistance up to Rs 75 lakh to states and Union Territories for construction of heliports. The proposals for setting up of heliports will be part of destination development projects.
