Ministry of Tourism (MoT) will extend the Visit India Year campaign till this year-end. Earlier MoT had decided to extend the campaign till March 31, 2010. The plan to extend the campaign was disclosed by Kumari Selja, Union Minister for Tourism and Urban Housing, Poverty Alleviation after launching the renovated India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) property, Janpath Hotel in New Delhi recently. When asked whether the incentives announced as part of the campaign would continue or not, Selja said that the same will be decided in consultation with the trade.
MoT had launched Visit India Year campaign in early 2009 in partnership with travel and hospitality partners in the country as a measure to lure more inbound into the country in the wake of global financial meltdown. MoT also organised road shows in different overseas markets throughout 2009 to promote the Visit India scheme.
