The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) will organise Medical Tourism road shows in the Middle East in October this year, in a bid to augment Medical Tourism traffic to India. The road shows will be held in UAE (Dubai), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), Kuwait (Kuwait city), and Qatar (Doha) from October 2 - 10, 2009. MoT is expecting a total of 15-20 medical service suppliers from India, primarily hospitals to participate in the road shows in Middle East. MoT is currently chalking out the necessary details of the road shows. The objective of the road shows is to spread awareness about the high class Medical Tourism services available in India.
Speaking to TravelBiz Monitor, Sujit Banerjee, Secretary, MoT stated, “When MoT participated in the Arabian Travel Mart (ATM) this year, we received huge feedback for Medical Tourism services, therefore MoT decided to focus on promotion of Medical Tourism in the Middle East market.” MoT is excluding Wellness Tourism from this road show as it will reduce the focus on Medical Tourism and its services.
