MoT to pitch for PATA Travel Mart 2011, New Delhi

Ministry of Tourism (MoT) is planning to send a proposal to Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) by month end to host PATA Travel Mart in New Delhi in 2011. The main aim behind hosting the Mart is to showcase infrastructure development undertaken in Delhi in order to host the Commonwealth Games 2010. This year, PATA Travel Mart will be organised in Macau from September 14-17 at Venetian Macau-Resort-Hotel. According to industry sources, in a recent meeting held with PATA officials in New Delhi, Nawang  Rigzin Jora, Tourism Minister, Jammu and Kashmir expressed interest to host PATA Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference and Mart (ATRTCM) in Srinagar in early 2011. PATA ATRTCM is organised to promote Adventure Tourism and highlight various components of Responsible Tourism that are applicable to Adventure Tourism.

Kabir Vasudeva, Executive Director, PATA India Chapter mentioned that the move to host PATA Travel Mart and PATA ATRTCM currently looks positive. If everything goes right, PATA is likely to organise PATA Travel Mart in New Delhi by end of September 2011 and PATA ATRTCM in Srinagar by early February 2011.
