MoT to undertake market research of four overseas markets

Ministry of Tourism (MoT) will soon undertake a market study of four overseas markets- UK, UAE, Australia, and New Zealand to understand the perception of these markets vis-à-vis India as a tourism destination.

Talking to TravelBiz Monitor on the sidelines a discussion on ‘Challenges in Marketing Tourism Destinations’ at a seminar organised by Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism (FAST) in Delhi recently, Dr RN Pandey, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India said that a consultant will be appointed to undertake this study for India tourism in these markets. These four markets have been selected for different reasons.  “While UK is our second largest source market, Australia and New Zealand are long-term strategic markets for India tourism.  UAE is one of the emerging markets for India tourism. The consultant we are looking for should have his office infrastructure in all these markets, which is a requirement to consider him for the job,” added Pandey.  At the seminar he emphasised on the 4Ps – Product, Price, Place, and Promotion – for successful destination marketing.
