| | According to a PIB release, Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary, Governor, Meghalaya called on Kumari Selja, Union Minister for Tourism yesterday in New Delhi. During the meeting both sides discussed tourism related issues. Mooshahary said Meghalaya has vast tourism potential both for domestic, as well as foreign tourists. He mentioned that the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) to central government employees to visit the North-East has made Meghalaya quite popular among tourists.
The Governor said that tourism is one of the most important aspects in achieving national integration. Welcoming the proposed Heli Tourism announced by the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), he urged that travel by helicopter to Meghalaya to be made affordable to attract more visitors to the area. He requested to see if a subsidy can be considered in this regard.
