MPSTDC to start ‘Go Camping 2010’ by October this year

Plans are afoot to develop convention centres in Bhopal, Jabalpur and Gwalior

In a bid to promote tourism in the state, Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) in association with the District Administration plans to start ‘Go Camping 2010’, an exclusive event to explore adventure activities in Madhya Pradesh (MP) by October 2010. For the same, the Corporation has identified 12 prospective sites for the camp- Bhopal, Pachmarhi, Mandu, Orchha, Jabalpur, Tamia, Amarkantak, Shahdol, Dewas, Panna, Bhind and Pench.

Hari Ranjan Rao, Managing Director, MPSTDC said, “Go Camping 2010 will be a major initiative to develop tourism and increase tourist arrivals in the state. The bookings for the same will be made available via MP Tourism website. We want to strongly promote Madhya Pradesh as an Adventure Tourism destination.”

Furthermore, Rao added, “We are also thinking of capacity building and training local youth who could be prospective employees for adventure tour operators. Also, during these camps, we plan to invite members of Adventure Tour Operators Association of India and familiarise them about these places in order to expose them to potential adventure activities in the state.
