Mt Rigi, a mountain destination in Central Switzerland, has joined the Swiss Travel System (STS) effective January 2010. Mt Rigi is the first mountain to join STS and thus become the first peak to be a part of Swiss Pass, which permits unhindered travel on rail, road, and boat network of STS. Mt Rigi started promotions in the India market since 2009 through Switzerland Destination Marketing (SDM), a destination representation and marketing company.
Elke Guth, Product and Sales Manager – Foreign Countries, Mt Rigi, who was recently in Delhi, said that the Indian market has shown good interest in the product since it was introduced in the market. Mt Rigi is one of the most popular mountains in Switzerland and we have added new peaks into our itinerary as well. The direct connectivity from cities like Lucerne and Zurich to Mt Rigi will work to the destinations advantage compared to other peaks.”
She mentioned that the real challenge will be to convince tour managers to include Mt Rigi into their itineraries. “We work under a limited budget in overseas markets. |
